Music rights
adbop provides display software and browser access. It does not grant rights to stream or publicly perform music.
Browser access is not a music licence
adbop lets you use music websites in the device's built-in browser or your chosen PC browser while displaying adverts, and play music you upload in the Android TV media player. The service does not sell music, a business-music subscription or public-performance rights. The TV browser opens at Google; reaching a music website through it is not permission or an endorsement by that service.
Uploaded music
Upload only tracks you own or are licensed to copy and use this way. Uploaded tracks are private to the venue's account and its linked TVs; adbop stores them and sends them to those TVs but does not license them. Playing them to customers is a public performance that needs the same licences as any other music played in your business.
Use a service authorised for your setting
Ordinary personal subscriptions generally do not authorise playing music to customers in a restaurant, bar, shop or other business. A streaming subscription and a public-performance licence are different permissions: obtaining one does not automatically supply the other. Each venue must check its provider's current terms, commercial-use permissions and the rights required for the actual use, and use an appropriately licensed business service where necessary. An Owner's personal/non-commercial adbop package does not permit commercial client advertising or change music rights.
South African performance rights
Depending on the music and use, licences may be required for the musical composition and the sound recording under South African copyright law. Contact SAMRO about rights it administers for composers/publishers and SAMPRA about rights it administers for recording artists/record companies. Confirm the relevant repertoire and tariff directly; adbop cannot determine every licence a venue needs. Other territories, including Zimbabwe, have their own collecting societies and requirements.
No extraction or circumvention
adbop does not download, extract or record streamed music or bypass provider account, region, DRM or playback restrictions. Keep the provider's normal branding, adverts and controls. Browser music needs internet, and adbop does not turn streamed music into an offline library or provide licensed music. Uploaded music plays offline only where an administrator has allowed offline playback. Advert videos are silent and must be supplied without audio tracks. Permission to publish an advert does not give permission to add copyrighted music to it.
Rights concerns
If you believe content hosted on adbop infringes your rights, email [email protected] with your contact details, the work/rights involved, the relevant content/account/device details and the basis for your authority. We investigate and may restrict access where justified. This is a support and rights-reporting route, not a claim that adbop has registered for a statutory safe-harbour scheme.
